Fitness Trail (10K/6.2 Miles)

The Fitness Trail is just one part of a city bike trail that wanders along the Greenway and throughout the city of Grand Forks. It's intended to give people of all ages the opportunity to exercise on a designated trail that is accurately marked for direction and distance. Walkers, runners, rollerbladers, skateboarders and bike riders are encouraged to enjoy the scenic trail as it leads through several Grand Cities neighborhoods and the University of North Dakota. The Greenway

The Greenway

The Greenway consists of 2,200 acres lining the Red River and the Red Lake River as they flow through Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.  This picturesque urban space offers countless recreational, cultural, historical and natural resource opportunities.  You can hike, walk, run, rollerblade, bike, bird, canoe, kayak, fish or golf, all in the heart of our two cities.  Now fully completed, the Greenway includes an all-season trail system, nature preserves, picnic sites and camping areas.

A few unique things the Greenway offers are:

  • Disc golf courses - one in Lincoln Drive Park and the other, a new 12-hole course, just off Bygland Road, across from Eagle Point Trail Head, in East Grand Forks
  • Dog park - located Lincoln Drive Park; offers dog owners a safe, legal opportunity to exercise their pet off-leash, within the city limits (view map)
  • Natural play area for kids - approximately 150 square feet in size; features balance beams, climbing ropes, benches and decorative arches; located in a grove of trees, along the lower trail, in the area commonly referred to as Sunbeam (just north of 47th Avenue South)
