Public Parks
Greater Grand Forks has many beautiful parks for the entire family to enjoy. From lush, green shade trees to picturesque views of the river, our parks are truly an example of nature's beauty. Between our two communities several parks feature a variety of outdoor fun. During the summer months, the parks offer picnic facilities, playground equipment, splash parks, outdoor swimming pools, bicycle trails, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, flower gardens, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, and a disc golf course. During the winter months you can find indoor ice arenas, several outdoor lighted ice-skating areas with supervised warming houses, a sledding hill, groomed cross country ski trails and indoor tennis or racquetball at Center Court Fitness Club.
Our grand cities also cater to our furry friends with two dog parks. One is situated in the Greenway at Lincoln Drive Park. The other has been established by the Circle of Friends Humane Society and is located at 4375 North Washington Street. Both off-lease parks are open daily from dawn until dusk. All dogs must have collars with current rabies vaccination tags attached and be on leashes when they enter and exit the play area.

Turtle River State Park
Turtle River State Park is just 22 miles west of Grand Forks and is situated along a heavily-wooded valley. This 784-acre park is a vivid contrast to the open farmland that dominates eastern North Dakota. The river was named for the mud and snapper turtles once found in abundance in the streams. Today, the entire park is a natural sanctuary harboring an abundance of plant and animal life. The wetland is a haven for birds and migratory waterfowl. The park has 125 modern and primitive campsites, a woodland lodge and group cabins, a mountain bike trail, self-guided nature trails, fishing for rainbow trout and special programs presented in an outdoor amphitheater. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, sledding and more.
