See Forks through rosé colored glasses

Just like a good Cabernet, the Greater Grand Forks Art & Wine Walk keeps getting better with age.

The first glass of wine was poured back in 2006, when the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and North Valley Arts Council (NoVAC) joined forces to host one of the most popular annual events our community has ever known. A few years back, the CVB handed the baton over to the Downtown Development Association (DDA) and happily, this event continues to be SimplyGrand!

Art & Wine Walk began as a monthly, summer-only occurrence. Last year, however, organizers decided to hold them periodically throughout the year, with the next one scheduled for Saturday, November 3, from 1 to 5 PM. These Walks offer regional artists a chance to display their talents and wares at several downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks venues. A sample of wine will be available, at specified sites, for those 21 years of age and older. A few locations may also choose to serve nonalcoholic beverages and appetizers, along with featuring live music.

On the day of the event, a wristband and map listing participating businesses may be purchased for $20 at either of two starting locations: Rhombus Brewing Company in Grand Forks or Blue Moose Bar & Grill in East Grand Forks. Just some of the participants have included Kittsona, Riverwalk Artists, Voxxy, Ely’s Ivy, Curious Clothing, Sky’s and The Ember. The event concludes with a CVB sponsored wrap-up party, at the Empire Arts Center, featuring complimentary champagne and hors d’ oeuvres. Turning in your map at the reception also qualifies you for a chance to win one of several fabulous prizes.

So, warm up to the cooler weather by gathering some friends together…strolling through our beautiful downtowns and savoring the variety of fine art and wine our two cities have to offer! If you want a little fun after the sun goes down, our trendy Downtown District has great nightlife options. Here’s a sample of hotspots to check out: Brick & Barley; The Toasted Frog; Half Brothers Brewing Company; Joe Black’s; Level 10; The Loft and Up North Pizza Pub.
