Move over Big Apple, Grand Forks is stealing some of the spotlight when it comes to bringing in top-notch shows!  Since 1972, the Chester Fritz Auditorium stage has hosted numerous legendary performances in a variety of genres. With events ranging from Broadway musicals to Moscow’s ballet, their current schedule promises not to disappoint.   At just over 2,300 seats, Chester Fritz is the perfect size to host musical theater and intimate concerts.  The superb sound system, renowned acoustics and auditorium layout are such that it makes you feel at one with the production.   Experience a little of the auditorium’s great history by strolling down the halls lined with autographed pictures of past performers, just some of whom include the Oak Ridge Boys, Foreigner, John Mellencamp, Bette Midler and Jerry Seinfeld. Watch Hollywood stars under celestial ones

Looking for a great family night out that won’t break the bank?  Just park it…at the annual MOVIES IN THE PARK summer series! All you need is a lawn chair or blanket and a few of your favorite people. Even though the outdoor venue changes from flick to flick, it’s always the same great price: FREE! However, you may wanna bring along a few bucks, as various food trucks will be on site serving up tasty eats. Burning down the house

Have you taken in a show our two at the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre (aka Fire Hall Theatre)?  If not, you don’t know what your missing.  This community organization has been a mainstay in Greater Grand Forks for 64 years, and produces a variety of shows that showcase the fabulous talent in our region. The 2011-2012 season has launched with some fabulous theater including: “Bell, Book & Candle” – October 13-29 (this week is the final showing) Gillian Holroyd is one of the few modern people who can actually cast spells and perform supernatural feats.  She casts a spell over an unattached publisher, Shepherd Henderson, partly because she is attracted to him.  He falls head over heals in love with her at once and wants to marry her.  But witches, unfortunately, cannot fall in love, and this minute imperfection leads to a number of difficulties.  Will Gillian choose love over tradition?  And will Shepherd choose a mortal woman over Gillian?  It’s a “Bewitching” predicament. “A Christmas Carol” – December 6-17 Focusing on Dickens’ powerful language, humor and warmth, this charming drama tells the story of the redemption of a human soul.  The play follows the ever-powerful story of Scrooge, …
