SUMMER READING PROGRAM EVENTS

  • Children’s Kick Off Party – June 6th @ 2pm – 4pm: We're Kicking off the Summer Reading Program with a party! We'll have a bounce house, root beer floats, Kids Astronaut Training Academy, and REAL NASA moon Rocks! You can register at the event to participate or click the link below and get set up online!
  • Teen Escape Rooms – June 6th @ 4pm – 6pm: 2 Rooms, 30 minutes in each - can you and your team make it out?!? Register with up to 3 friends or jump into a random team and see if you can make it out of one of our two escape rooms! Event limited to 32 participants, reserve your spot today! Reservations can be made online at gflibrary.com

  • Children’s Space Helmet Building – June 6th @ 8pm – 9pm: The summer reading kick off day party continues with space helmet building for kids!
  • Drive-In Style Family Movie – June 6th @ 9pm – 11pm: Bring your favorite blanket, lawn chair, and the whole family for an outdoor movie at the library! Movie will start around 9:00 PM. We will be showing Wall-E (PG). All ages are welcome, children under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. 
  • Children’s Mini Maker Faire – June 13th @ 2pm – 3pm: Get creative in every way at our children's mini maker fair, no registration required, Just come and have some fun!
  • Teen Chocolate Making – June 13th @ 4pm – 6pm: Calling all chocolate lovers! Mix up your own delicious chocolates from scratch and learn a little something in the process. This class is limited to 20 participants, reserve your spot today!! Reservations can be made online at gflibrary.com

  • Children’s Shapes in Space – June 13th @ 2pm – 3pm: Brad Hansen-Smith will be at the library to teach the art of folding circles.
  • Teen Acrylic Paint Pouring Party – June 20th @ 4pm – 6pm: Get creative, express yourself, and get a little messy. Acrylic pouring is a painting technique where paint is poured on a surface and the surface is tilted in each direction to let the paint flow!   • Children’s Imagination Theater – July 11th @ 2pm – 3pm: Take your imagination for a ride with Michael Gallo! Michael Gallo has been involved in early childhood education for over 35 years. He has performed during several summer reading programs at the Grand Forks Public Library and is always a crowd favorite!

  • Children’s Pint Size Polkas – July 25th @ 3pm – 4pm: Pint Size Polkas will be at the library to present Music & Magic from the Polkaverse. You won't want to miss this opportunity to get out and dance!
  • Teen Harry Potter Day – July 25th @ 4pm – 6pm: A fun filled Harry Potter Day at the Library, with Mini Golf, Trivia, Wand Making, Snacks and House Sorting!

  • Children’s Grand Finale Party – August 1st @ 2pm – 4pm: Celebrate a summer of reading accomplishments at our Grand Finale Party! We'll have plenty of activities and food trucks!
  • Teen Pizza and Bowling Party – August 1st @ 4pm – 6pm: Celebrate the closing chapter of A Universe of Stories and celebrate all you've accomplished this summer with a Grand Finale! We'll meet at Red Ray Lanes in Grand Forks for pizza, bowling, prize drawings, and a good time!
  • Adult Grand Finale Prize Auction – August 2nd @ 5pm – 7pm: Celebrate all that you've accomplished this summer and earn some well-deserved prizes. All your minutes have added up to library dollars. We'll give you your bank when you arrive and you can use those dollars to bid on prizes. We'll have games during the auction intermission and refreshments will also be served.

SPECIAL PROGRAMMING

  • International Table Top Day – June 1st @ 10am – 10pm (The Ember – Downtown Grand Forks) International Tabletop Day was founded several years ago as a way for the world to celebrate tabletop gaming together. Every spring, gaming fans host thousands of events all over the world and every year, the event has grown! Join the Grand Forks Public_, in conjunction with the Grand Forks Board Gamers to celebrate this AWESOME day! 
  • Fairy Tale Tea Party – June 8th @ 2pm – 3pm Join us for a special fairy tale themed tea party! Open to children up to age 12, and their parents. Space is limited to 40 people, contact the children's department at 701-772-8116 to reserve your space.
  • Family Movie Days – June 15th @ 2pm – 4pm & July 20th @ 2pm – 4pm Featuring “How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (PG) in June and “Wonder Park” (PG) in July. All ages are welcome, children under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older. Popcorn provided, just bring your own beverage!
  • Our World In Watercolor – July 13th @ 10:30am – 12pm & July 13th @ 12:30pm – 2pm The River Forks Water Color Society presents: Our World in Water Color a children's water color painting class! Space is limited to 10 children, please contact the Children's Department to sign up. Parents please attend with your child.
  • Tiny Tots Drive-In Storytime – July 20th @ 10am – 11am A special drive in theater inspired weekend story time! Appropriate for children of all ages!
