FORKS FAVORITES: Hometown dining

The Visit Greater Grand Forks team is excited to share with you some of our hometown favorites in case you ever need some ideas.

Today we feature our preferred dining options. These locally-owned establishments offer #SimplyGrand options for dining in or taking out.

THE SPUD JR.

  • 302 Demers Ave, East Grand Forks, 218.399.0121
  • Many great businesses have come and gone in the East Grand Forks and Grand Forks area. They live on as fond memories for many of the residents in the community. The Spud Jr. has taken those memories and used them as inspirations for their restaurant and menu.
  • Nicole Blair, Director of Visitor Services, loves the easy online ordering and curbside pickup in addition to the amazing food.
  • Poutine is Nicole's must-try menu item, which includes hand-cut Red River Valley Red fries, topped with cheese curds, pulled pork, gravy, and green onions.

DARCY'S CAFE

  • 1015 North Washington Street, Grand Forks, 701.775.4050
  • Darcy's Cafe has you covered. Serving breakfast all day, and some of the best home cooked meals, there's something for everyone. Whether you're craving some cinnamon roll pancakes, a piggy burger, or the Dave's Special, the kitchen's open.
  • Stephanie Bernstrom, Director of Sports & Events, loves to hit Darcy's with her family for breakfast on their birthdays and other special days. Their options for dining-in or curbside pick-up make it an easy and tasty choice.
  • Steph and her family really love the blueberry lemon pancakes for breakfast and lunchtime tater tot hotdish, a Midwest staple, as well as the daily specials listed on Darcy's Facebook page.

HAPPY JOE'S PIZZA & ICE PARLOR

  • 2909 S Washington St, Grand Forks, 701.772.6655
  • Happy Joe's offers the most delicious pizza pie in the midwest and maybe THE WORLD!
  • Alicia Van Eps, Marketing Coordinator, loves that you can order online and they have the option to pick up at the drive-up window especially with little ones.
  • Alicia's family suggest the taco pizza packed with a special refried bean sauce, taco-seasoned beef and sausage, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and taco chips. And don't forget the sour cream and taco sauce!

GROUND ROUND GRILL & BAR

  • 2800 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks, 701.775.4646.
  • This locally-owned Ground Round Grill & Bar is where family and friends can gather to enjoy a wide selection of great food and drinks!
  • Ground Round is Shelley Wagendorf's, Communications Coordinator, go-to restaurant, which offers dine-in, take-out, curbside pick-up and delivery.
  • Shelley says to make sure to give their Monday Chinese combination plate special, compliments of legendary local chef Gam Wong, a try. It features sweet & sour chicken, pork or shrimp, chicken chow mein, pork fried rice and a pork egg roll. Served with Sweet & Sour on the side.

HALF BROTHERS BREWING COMPANY

  • 17 North Third Street, Grand Forks, 701.757.0805
  • The Half Brothers team has built something special that goes beyond quality beer and great food. Come in for a pint and a bite and see for yourself.
  • Julie Rygg, Executive Director, and her family absolutely love hanging out at Half Brothers as well as getting their food and brew for at home.
  • Each member of her family has a different favorite menu item, which include the pound of bacon, brewer's plate, chicken bacon ranch pizza and the seasonal Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows brew (for the 21+ family members).
