Forksful of Flavor, Finds & Fun
5 places to find Forksful of flavor, finds and fun in October
Whether it’s at a picturesque local park or the region’s largest indoor water park, our two FORKS always offer up one GRAND time for those of all tastes, ages and persuasions!
UNDER GRAND SKIES
For some great outdoor fall fun, jump on your bikes and head to The Greenway. While our scenic trail system offers more than 20 miles of groomed paths, I find Riverside Park is one awesome spot to begin your grand journey. Surrounded by the river and lots of colorful trees, this scenic part of Forks is especially stunning in autumn. No wheels? No worries! Grand Rides Bike Share has numerous locations scattered about and using the app is super easy. Start pedaling toward our up-and-coming Downtown District, where you’ll find lots of great spots to grab a brew and some food including Bernie’s, Blue Moose, The Ember, Brick & Barley, The Tap Room and Urban Stampede.
DIP & SERVE
When the temps are a little bit too chilly, get your good times on inside! Canad Inns Destination Centre features Splashers of the South Seas, a tropical themed water park, along with a large arcade area for both guests and non-guests. Likewise, Choice Health & Fitness offers an amazing water park and pool area, in addition to pickleball and tennis courts, premier workout equipment, a variety of exercise classes and more. The Board Room is an ideal spot for all ages to enjoy a flight of hot chocolate or specialty coffee drinks, while those 21+ can also partake in the beer, wine, margarita and mimosa varieties. One of their charcuterie boards filled with lots of flavorful treats is a must-try.
SHOP AROUND
If you like finding good buys, road tripping to Grand Forks makes lots of (dollars and) sense! Our Southside District features an array of popular big box stores such as Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, Lowe’s, Super Target, Scheels, Ross Dress for Less and the newly opened HomeGoods. Those who prefer unique boutiques will also be quite content. Key Bliss, Mainstream and Northern Roots are awesome spots for one-of-a-kind fashion finds.
FUN & GAMES
FUN & GAMES. If you want a unique way to have tons of family or date night fun, grab your partner(s) in crime and make a grand escape...to the Grand Forks Escape Room! Never heard of an escape room? It’s a physical adventure game where a team of players must use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and get out within a set time limit. Book a spot now, then get ready to try tackling one of their latest themes: "The Vault", "Oz Has Alice", "Trapped in the 80s" or “The Haunting”. When your adventure is done, reward or console yourselves with some tasty ales and eats just down the street at Half Brothers Brewing Company. For the non-imbibers, Half Brothers offers several Fizzy Pops and NA beer options. They also have an assortment of board games and six vintage pinball machines.
FOR THE WIN
Score one GraND time on Ur Saturdate when our top ten ranked University of North Dakota Football Fighting Hawks take the field against their conference rivals! Kickoff is 1 PM in the Alerus Center but best come a couple hours early if you want to experience FORKSful of flavor and fun at Tailgate Village! After the final whistle blows, head up 42ndStreet for victory cocktails and winning food at Speedway 805 Grill & Bar.
