Whether a seasoned mixology enthusiast or someone who simply enjoys a good stiff drink, the city offers a variety of NA and alcohol infused creative concoctions that are sure to delight your taste buds. Let’s take a tour of some standout spots and their signature sips offering up FORKSful of flavor.

TOASTED FROG

124 North 3rd Street, Grand Forks

The Frog is a cornerstone of Downtown Grand Forks’ dining and cocktail scene. Known for its bustling atmosphere and inventive menu, this spot is a must-visit for cocktail lovers. Their Cucumber Martini is a refreshing twist on a classic, blending crisp cucumber with a hint of citrus for a drink that’s as invigorating as it is delicious. For those who prefer something a bit more indulgent, the White Chocolate Martini is a decadent treat that feels like dessert in a glass. Looking for something NA to sip on? The Frog’s Spicy Paloma mocktail is just the thing! It’s made with Seedlip 94, grapefruit juice, fresh lime and cayenne. 21+ only.

BLUE MOOSE BAR & GRILL

507 2nd Street NW, East Grand Forks

Located on the scenic East Grand Forks Boardwalk, The Blue Moose offers a cozy meets eclectic vibe and a cocktail menu that’s anything but ordinary. Their Moosey Mule, which combines vodka, cranberry juice and lime with ginger beer, is a refreshing take on the classic Moscow Mule. Smoke on the Water is a must-order when available. It features 100% Blue Agave tequila, Frangelico, smoked black cherry syrup, maple syrup, cara-cara balsamic and chocolate bitters for one sweet and savory treat. In summer months, order up one of their famous Long Island Teas – there are 20+ varieties to choose from – to enjoy on their large outdoor deck overlooking the river. Tasty NA cocktails include Watermelon Sugar, Strawberry Serenity and my favorite, Tropic Sunset: pineapple and orange juice, coconut puree and grenadine served on the rocks.

HARRY'S STEAKHOUSE

421 DeMers Avenue, Grand Forks

Appealing ambiance and fine bovine intertwine at Harry’s. Voted one of Open Table’s Most Romantic Restaurants in the country for three years running, this legendary establishment is famous for its stellar service, delectable dishes and creative cocktails. Espresso Martini connoisseurs will surely approve of Harry’s version. Made with vanilla bean vodka, espresso liqueur, amaro, hazelnut and hefty amount of fresh brewed espresso, no wonder everyone is buzzing about it! NA drinkers will love the 2023 Master of the Mocktail Award Winning Blue Dahlila made with Seedlip Grove 42, blueberry lavender syrup, house sour mix and a spritz of carbonation served on the rocks.

Charras is the place to bring your hot tamale for the best hot tamale in town! This popular Southside restaurante serves up a grande array of tequila infused drinks and authentic Mexican dishes, including the tastiest Quesabirria Tacos this side of Tijuana! Charras’ cocktail menu features many marvelous margarita options but the Resposado is usually my go-to. Their muy delicioso version is made with El Tequileño, Grand Marnier, pineapple, orange, lime and agave. While the Skinny Margarita here may be low calories, it garners high marks for flavor.

SKIES 322

322 DeMers Avenue, Grand Forks

Skies not only offers a stellar second-story view of Downtown but also a cocktail menu that’s as elevated as its location. The Lavender Beech is a fan favorite, featuring Far North Spirits Anna’s Garden Gin (Skies 322 exclusive), floral lavender blueberry syrup and zesty lemon juice. If you’re feeling bold and adventurous, try their Man Fashioned made with Knob Creek Bourbon, Carpano Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth, muddled orange and candied cherry. Skies NA take on the classic Cuba Libre is simple yet simply delicious: Coca Cola, vanilla simple syrup and fresh lime juice.

While best known for juicy steaks, stacked high burgers and fall off the bone ribs, the ginormous Fish Bowl cocktails here really pack a flavorful punch! Grab your besties, race over to Speedway, then brake to partake in one of their many fruity-flavored varieties!

Where’s the Best Bloody Mary in town, you ask? That’s a toughie! While Forks has several establishments mixing up some really good ones, The Spud Jr.’s version is definitely a crowd pleaser, especially for those who like to brunch. Their Tower Bloody features house infused pepper vodka served with a pickle, olives, celery, jalapenos, pepperjack cheese, cheese curds, cheddar cheese, a beef stick, sausage, bacon, a saucy nug, grilled cheese, lime and a lemon slice! For those who prefer less accoutrements and more effervescence, The Spud’s Mimosas never disappoint.

9 North 3rd Street, Grand ForkS

In addition to an extensive food menu and 48 beers on tap, this Downtown mainstay prides itself on bold, creative drinks. Their Blueberry Old Fashioned is a standout, blending Woodford Reserve, lemon, blueberry, honey, brown sugar and simple syrup for a cocktail that’s satisfyingly sweet. Another crowd-pleaser is the tropical Pineapple Rum Punch featuring Malibu, pineapple juice, ginger ale and a splash of grenadine.

HELIX WINE & BITES

4491 South Washington Street, Grand Forks

Everyone knows HELIX is the place to go for five-star food and first-class vino; however, their expert mixologists also stir and shake up some of the most creative cocktails in Forks. While not officially on the menu, the Cosmopolitan here is the best I’ve had anywhere. They use Citron vodka, triple sec, lime and just a splash of cranberry juice – making it both pretty delicious and pretty in pink. If ordering HELIX’s Braised Beef Tostados (which I highly recommend you do) the Blood Orange Margarita makes a perfect chaser.

BONZER'S

420 DeMers Avenue, Grand Forks

When looking for an informal spot to grab a drink with some girth, best get to Bonzer’s the “schooner” the better! This legendary Downtown pub is famous for hearty sandwiches, spicylicious chili, pickled eggs, plus the biggest and best schooners of Long Island Iced Tea in Forks. You can choose from a few different flavors, such as cranberry and strawberry, but it’s always been the OG for me.
