University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks Football is officially underway and head coach Kyle “Bubba” Schweigert is inviting everyone to be on the team…as his 12th player!
The whole crowd is expected to be on its feet cheering after every touchdown, tackle and takeaway and with some of the best athletes in the country on the field, don’t anticipate spending very much time in your seat. Talented seniors Andrew Zimmerman (QB), James Johannesson (RB) and Noah Wanzek (WR) are expected to lead UND once again to yet another SimplyGrand season!
You’ll also be able to enjoy all the indoor comforts of the Alerus Center, including their jumbotron screens that highlight each play and capture every bit of the action. A few of the Alerus’ newer enhancements are an updated sound system, state of the art LED sports lighting and free public access Wi-Fi. Feeling hungry? Make sure to check out the concession areas featuring an assortment of scrumptious eats and drinks such as The Grand Hot Dog, Coach Bubba Burger, Grub of the Game (game one featured an amazing Apple Tart topped with ice cream) and the Stormin’ Nordic cocktail (a tasty concoction made with spiced rum, lime and ginger beer). Looking to sport some stylish new Green ‘n White gear? They’ve gotcha covered, literally! The Hawk Shop is located on the concourse level and features the latest, greatest UND apparel.
If y’all would like to partake in some pre-game fun, make sure to stop by Tailgate Village about 2½ hours prior to kick-off. The Alerus Center south parking lot will be filled with live music, food vendors, merchandise sales and giant inflatables for the kids…plus, it’s free for fans!
