Independence Park
Independence Park was built in 1994 with accessibility for special needs individuals with physical and emotional disabilities. The raised planters are planted with special plants to appeal to the senses and are at a level that can be reached by those in wheelchairs. There is a gazebo with a picnic table placed underneath. The Park District Horticulture crew plants 3,000 annual plants in the park and on the Demers Overpass where the big spruce is lit up during the holidays. The area has benches for sitting to enjoy the beauty.
