Six Grand ways to have Forksful of fun this Valentine’s Day

Everyone’s favorite Hallmark holiday is fast approaching. Don’t have any Valentine’s Day plans? No need to fret just yet because our two Forks have lots of great date options!

Here are just a half dozen.

BLONDES & BURGERS

Who says you must celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 14th? Pretty sure your plus-one won’t mind if tickets to “Legally Blonde: The Musical” are the reason why! This fabulously fun, award-winning comedy will take center stage at Chester Fritz Auditorium, February 13, at 7:30 PM. A preshow dinner at nearby Speedway 805 Grill & Bar is a delicious way to start your date. As luck would have it, Monday nights just so happen to be BOGO 50% off on all their burgers.

MINNESOTA NICE

Head across the river to Downtown East Grand Forks for a hearty meal and romantic movie. Start out the evening with a cozy dinner at Bernie’s, Food Network star Molly Yeh’s new restaurant. Located in the former Whitey’s space, the iconic horseshoe bar and retro vibe remain but with a grand new feel. The menu features a variety of Midwest dishes sprinkled with Molly’s culinary creativity including a Minnesota wild rice burger, Swedish meatballs, walleye schnitzel, lefse, pastries, bars and breads, which are used to make some scrumptious sandwiches. End the evening by catching a romantic flick at River Cinema 15, perhaps in one of the theaters with heated recliner seating.

ONE HOT TAMALE

Looking to add a little spice to your life? Charras & Tequila offers some of the best Up North South of the Border food in town. Their crispy tortilla chips and guacamole that’s prepared tableside are a muy delicioso starter. When it comes to cocktails, a flight of margaritas is the way to go. Follow that with Charras’ spicylicous shrimp a la diabla, chicken tinga enchiladas or homemade pork tamales. An order of freshly fried churros and Mexican hot chocolate is the perfect way to warm up before heading out. In the mood for a little after dinner fun? Stop by The Office Pub & Grub and try your hand at blackjack, pull-tabs, pool or darts.

GOURMET AFFAIR

The Toasted Frog is the best place around to get pickled. By that, I mean their high-class martinis and deep-fried cheesy pickles are so intoxicatingly delicious, they’ll make your head spin! Upon exiting The Frog, stroll over to Town Square and take a twirl or two through the ice rink. Warm up afterward at Downtown’s newest fine dining spot: Harry’s Steakhouse. Treat your plus-one to a five-star dinner that includes classic cocktails, crab cakes, creamed corn pancetta, a king or queen cut of herb crusted prime rib and the sweetest cheesecake west of NYC.

A SUITE GETAWAY

If you really want to impress your partner, reserve one of the theme-suites or even the penthouse at Canad Inns Destination Centre. Go all cowboy and give their Dakota room a try or perhaps a tropical getaway in the South Seas suite is more to your liking. Since all of them have Jacuzzis, you may just want to order up room service from one of Canad’s eateries, so you can dine while you dip.

PLAY AROUND

PlayIt Multisports Complex is a great way to begin your date with a little friendly competition. Shoot hoops, swing away at the batting cages, maybe even play a little pickleball. If a less intense activity is your preference, how about throwing a few axes at Northern Air Action Park or Downtown Axe? Keep it casual for dinner with some hot wings and cold beers at our locally owned Buffalo Wild Wings.
