Six picks offering up Forksful of family-friendly flavors

The family that dines together has a grand time together! In our two Forks, we have lots of great restaurants that offer up both flavor and fun. Here are my top six picks.

THE BLUE MOOSE

507 2nd Street Northwest, East Grand Forks

Surrounded by knotty pine and neon, this cozy meets eclectic eatery has a vibe perfect for all ages and occasions. The littles will love to get their picture taken next to the large blue moose statue out front. Upon entering, a welcoming host will provide you with a colorable menu and crayons, which come in an adorable wooden moose holder. Popular offerings here include fried walleye, smothered chicken, an assortment of loaded burgers and their famous ooey gooey Mac & Cheese Attack. There is also a tempting dessert menu with lots of sweet options. Children’s menu available. Kids eat free, with adult meal purchase, on Sundays.

PIZZA RANCH

3750 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks

Round up the gang and mosey on over to our nearby Pizza Ranch for some tasty chow plus lots of games and good times. Their sizable buffet features everything from fried chicken and mashed potatoes to pizza and waffle fries. Before or after your meal, pop in the FunZone Arcade and see which family member can take home the biggest prize!

GROUND ROUND

2800 32nd Avenue South, Grand Forks

If y’all have a hankering for the beefiest burgers in town, hoof it over to the Ground Round! And if you stop by on Tuesdays, their mouth-watering between-the-buns creations are 2-for-1. In addition to good old American comfort food, this neighborhood bar and grill serves up Asian, Mexican and Italian dishes, plus all the hot, buttery popcorn you can eat. Be sure to save room for dessert because their deep-fried Oreos are decadently delicious! Childrens menu available. Kids eat free, with adult meal purchase, on Mondays.

HALF BROTHERS BREWING COMPANY

17 North 3rd Street, Grand Forks

At Half Brothers, producing locally inspired hand-crafted beers and fabulous food is a family affair. Together, siblings Chad and Taylor have created a 10-barrel production brewery, taproom and eatery located Downtown. In addition to all their superior suds, Half Brothers pours the tastiest tap root beer around. Some of the signature menu offerings include housemade pizza rolls, chicken tenders, pretzel bites with choice of dipping sauce, L & M brats and a variety of hand-tossed pizzas. This all-ages brewpub also provides the opportunity to challenge your loved ones to a game of Jenga, Sorry, UNO, Connect Four and more!

LA CANTINA

1730 13th Avenue North, Grand Forks

Whether you prefer soft or hard, break out of your shell and give Northside’s newest restaurante a try! All their made from scratch Tex Mex dishes are muy delicioso but the grande frybread tacos are my go-to…and most definitely large enough for the little ones to split. When it comes time for dessert, everyone screams for the fried ice cream! Children’s menu available. Kids eat free, with adult meal purchase, on Sundays.

THE SPUD JR

302 DeMers Avenue, East Grand Forks

This awesome Eastside eatery is a great place for the whole family to gather. Their friendly servers are always willing to accommodate the tots, while simultaneously serving up the best Red River Valley grown fried taters in town! Whether you prefer your cheddar combined with mac and adorning a juicy burger, gently pressed between two slices of fresh bread or shredded atop a decadent brunch poutine, The Spud’s culinary creations leave people of all ages exclaiming: “Cheese, that’s good!” Children’s menu available. Kids eat free, with adult meal and beverage purchase, on Sundays.
