Early bird shopping


Looking to gobble up some bargains after you’ve gobbled up your turkey dinner?  As you probably already know, many stores are choosing to forgo Black Friday and open on Thanksgiving Thursday instead.   No worries…inquiring staff at the Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitors Bureau have checked around and done the leg/drumstick work for you!  Below is a list of stores and their post-bird hours:   Kmart: Open at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Best Buy: Open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving JCPenney: Open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Sears: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Shopko: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Target: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Walmart: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Kohl’s: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Macy’s: Open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Gordmans: Open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday Lowes: Open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday Cabela’s: Open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday Menard’s: Open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday Sam’s Club: Open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday

The 2012 Official Visitor Guide has arrived, and it is…simply grand


65,ooo copies of the most informative and comprehensive guide about Greater Grand Forks arrived today at the Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).  The guide, along with all 2012  marketing materials have a fresh new look while keeping the same level of quality, which the CVB has become known for, as well as the “simply grand” messaging synonymous with Greater Grand Forks. The guide will be distributed at local hotels and businesses; Minnesota and North Dakota statewide information centers; CAA offices in Manitoba; through One Fulfillment (ND Tourism Division distribution program); University of North Dakota; Grand Forks Air Force Base; and Grand Forks International Airport.  Organizations such as Altru Health System, The Chamber and Economic Development Corporation use the guide in recruitment efforts.  The CVB also distributes the guide in the Visitor Information Center (serving approximately 20,000 visitors per year), at trade shows, in event hospitality packets and visitor inquiry packets.  The guide may also be downloaded via To pick up a copy of the guide, stop by the Visitor Information Center located at 4251 Gateway Drive (junction of Interstate 29 and Highway 2).  Not local?  Request a copy by calling 800.866.4566, e-mailing or request one …

For those of you looking for some unique holiday gift-giving ideas, the Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Center houses a gift shop with a wide variety of local and regional products.  You will find such souvenir items as magnets, pins, key chains, Christmas ornaments, mugs, sweatshirts, t-shirts and caps.  We also feature North Dakota and Minnesota made food products including: North Prairie Signature bison sausage; Simple Garden Harvest soup mix; O’Connor’s mustard; RBJ’s jam; Dakota Maid pancake mix; Mable’s Taste of Home syrup; Prairie Roasters coffee and much more. We are conveniently located at the junction of Interstate 29 (Exit 141) and Highway 2 (4251 Gateway Drive).  Our hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.  You are invited to experience first-hand all the helpful services we offer, while getting your shopping done at the same time!
