Today’s blog comes from Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitors Bureau executive director, Julie Rygg.   Gallup recently unveiled their annual ranking of well-being in the United States, and guess who ranked first? It was North Dakota (Minnesota was close at fourth)! That tells us, for the most part, North Dakotans are the happiest people in the U.S. I tend to agree with this report. We are quite happy here and there are many big reasons, but there are also lots of small things that we find great joy in!   Now I now it has been a long winter all over the county, and I like to look for some of those fun little things to brighten my day and add enjoyment. I am sharing my current five faves with you. Enjoy!   1. The martinis at the Toasted Frog are amazing. If you haven’t had one yet, I highly recommend them. My favorite is the Pink Lemonade. It is the perfect combination of sweet and sour and reminds me of a warm summer day.   2. There is nothing better than a hot mocha on a cold winter morning. The Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) wants to assist visitors in every way we can, so we are starting a new addition to our blog. We are asking members of our team as well as other members of the community to share with us their Five Favorites in the Forks. That way visitors can hear what the locals enjoy with some special hints. We are starting with Shelley who is the Communications Coordinator at the CVB. She is sharing her five picks for shopping, dining and things to do…   Little Bangkok – Lunch and dinner at Little Bangkok is always a great experience with a variety of Thai and Japanese dishes on the menu including an array of fresh sushi creations. Shelley’s faves include the DeMers Avenue (sushi roll), Drunken Noodles (entree) and Vinho Verde (wine). Macy’s – Shelley is always on the lookout for a deal in the coolest trends, and she finds them at Macy’s in the Columbia Mall. She also recommends using the 10% off International Visitor Pass that can be found on the Deals & Discounts section of our website. University of North Dakota Women’s Basketball and Volleyball – There is nothing …

Drunken Noodle review

I had a chance to check out one of Greater Grand Forks’ newest restaurants the other day, the Drunken Noodle, located on Restaurant Row along the Red River in East Grand Forks.  I was so excited, as I love Little Bangkok, and the Drunken Noodle is under the same ownership. We arrived at the perfect time, as there were customers in the restaurant, but it wasn’t busy.  It has only been open a couple of weeks, so the staff is new and still working out a few kinks, but the food was yummy!!!! The restaurant is casual and has an open, airy environment.  They is a sunken bar area with comfy chairs and small tables with a stage to enjoy regularly scheduled entertainment. There are a variety of menu options from small bowls to larger dinners.  We tried some of their signature dishes including the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle.  They were both fabulous!  We also added some fried rice, which was spectacular! There was so much food on our table, we were able to bring another full meal home.  There was a sushi app on the menu, but unfortunately it is not being offered anymore, so I am glad …
