August Rush follows Evan Taylor, an 11‑year‑old orphan with extraordinary musical talent. Convinced that music can lead him back to his parents, he runs away to New York City, where he encounters a series of mentors and obstacles. His journey is interwoven with the stories of his parents—Lyla, a classical cellist, and Louis, an Irish rock musician—who were separated years earlier and are unknowingly searching for him and each other. The film culminates in Evan composing and conducting “August’s Rhapsody,” a sweeping orchestral piece that symbolically reunites the family.
