Celebrating its 35th season the Myra Foundation Presents: Concerts in the Galleries will host Poulenc Trio with accordionist Hangzhi Wang on Sunday, May 2, 2027. A distinctive combination of oboe, bassoon, and piano that transforms a niche chamber-music format into a vibrant and engaging concert experience. Special guest for this performance is Virtuosic prize-winning accordionist Hanzhi Wang. The Museum has excellent acoustics for this kind of intimate performance, and concerts are always followed by a free wine and cheese reception where audience members have a chance to meet the visiting musicians.

The Poulenc Trio has spent more than two decades championing the distinctive combination of oboe, bassoon, and piano, transforming a niche chamber-music format into a vibrant and engaging concert experience. Founded in 2003, the ensemble—pianist Irina Kaplan Lande, oboist Aleh Remezau, and bassoonist Bryan Young—has performed across the United States and internationally while earning praise for its elegance, artistry, and innovative programming. For this performance, the trio will be joined by Hanzhi Wang, a pioneering classical accordionist and composer renowned as the first accordionist to join the Young Concert Artists roster and release a solo album with Naxos. She is noted for her virtuosic performances, including self-composed pieces like “Mountain’s Song” inspired by her travels.

“The trio does its namesake proud” in “an intriguing and beautifully played program” with “convincing elegance, near effortless lightness and grace.” —The Washington Post

“Elegant rendition.” —The New York Times (reviewing the Trio’s performance of Piazzolla’s Tangos)

“Polished loveliness.” —The Palm Beach Post

“Captured the magic of chamber music.” —Palm Beach Daily News

The season of chamber music by nationally and internally known musicians is the only series of its kind in the Grand Forks area. Chamber music can include both vocal and instrumental music played by a small ensemble with only one player to a part. Although it is often associated with string quartets, nearly any instrument and music from any musical period including modern and contemporary, can be found on a chamber music concert program.

All concerts are held on Sunday afternoons at 2 pm in the Museum galleries. Tickets range from $10 to $35. Discounted season tickets are also available. Museum members receive discounted tickets and children 12 and under are free, as are students from 12-18 who play in their school orchestra or band. Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance and come early for the best seats. Tickets available at ndmoa.com or by calling 701-777-4195.
